Science Poetry Competition Closes With Almost 2000 Poems Submitted

Event Horizon Staff right now

At midnight last night, our science poetry competition ended and, boy, are we excited: over 700 people submitted close to 2,000 poems from all over the world!

Needless to say, this is a bit more than we expected, but we will still try to get the winner announced as soon as physically, humanly possible.

Thank you everyone who participated and to those who helped spread the word. It’s been a blast working on this–for us, the real treat is to see so many people thinking about combining science and art in new and innovative ways. Thanks for all the hard work, y’all!

In the meantime, check out this awesome science-y poem from our judge, Alan Shapiro, called Astronomy Lesson. We think you’ll enjoy it!
